Rana Guler (they/she) is an MA student in Social and Political Thought at York University. Their SSHRC-funded project explores the literary histories of settler colonialism, property relations, and neoliberalism to address the epistemic foundations of anti-houseless prejudices in Ontario. This theoretical work is related to their ongoing community work with houseless/housing-insecure neighbours in Hamilton, ON. Guler is broadly interested in narrative approaches to critical theory, queer theory, cultural studies, and post/decolonial studies. She has an upcoming publication in the anthology Queer Hopes and Futures, titled “Queer Hope (and Survival): Exploring Queer Social Reproduction as a Radical Affirmation of Queer Hope.” Outside their studies, Guler works with several nonprofit organizations, trying to increase urban green space access and food accessibility in their local community. They are a research assistant in this project.
